This is a 12-week program that meets once per week and is designed for adults age 60 and older. Participants will learn practical safe-falling techniques that can help reduce the risk of injury when a fall occurs. Lessons are taught in accessible steps. Students learn how to protect the head, soften impact, use the body efficiently, and recover with greater confidence. The program begins with awareness and controlled movement, then gradually advances toward more dynamic falling and recovery skills.

Many senior-focused programs emphasize fall prevention. This program goes a step further by teaching participants what to do when a fall happens. Through supportive instruction and practical training, students can replace uncertainty with preparedness and leave with skills they can remember, practice, and apply when needed.

Why Judo?

Judo provides a strong foundation for teaching safe falling because students must learn how to fall and be thrown without injury before advancing in the art. Through repeated practice, they develop the skills to fall, land, and respond safely when thrown by a partner. Judo is designed to be a life-long activity. Many Judo students practice their entire lives.
